5 Deaths in Manado and Jakarta Because of Flooding

flood-manadoIn Jakarta, four people have died as a result of flooding, including a 5-year-old-girl. Over 2,700 people who have been affected by floods are still in temporary shelters. That being said, the scale of the floods was much smaller this year compared to last year. East Jakarta was most affected by the flooding itself. West Jakarta was also affected because an embankment collapsed, causing a river to overflow.

In the Manado area, one person has died and 2,000 residents were evacuated because of flooding and landslides. Another person is still missing. A spokesperson stated that a low air pressure system in the Philippines is affecting the weather in North Sulawesi, causing flash floods, landslides, and high waves.

Pray for Christian workers in both areas as they do relief work for these disasters.
