Central Sulawesi is facing violence between Christians and Muslims again. In the past, this area has been the center of much conflict, but things calmed down when a peace agreement was made in 2002. On Sunday night, though, unknown assailants set fire Madele Pentecostal Church. The congregation acted quickly, stopping the fire from spreading and sparing the church building from any major damage. The port cities in the area have also had attacks Christian-owned buildings. On Monday, two car bombs exploded near a police traffic post and wounded three people. Two detectives who were investigating an attack on a member of the Christian community have been murdered.
Pray that the violence in this area will end. Ask that the police will be able to find and catch those who are at the heart of this violence, and that they will be protected as they conduct these investigations.
