The local government in a small Central Javan town is threatening to close St. Pius Catholic School. The reason? They refuse to teach Islam. While the government requires that all schools teach religion, they do not say what religion. Therefore, most Christian schools teach Christianity, not Islam. Muslim parents are actually siding with the school, saying that they don’t think schools should be closed just because they don’t have Islamic courses. The parents say that only they have the right to ask for Islamic courses, not the government.
Pray that this school will be able to stay open so they continue to teach students about Jesus.
