Churches In Bandung and Aceh Are Closed

Indonesian Christian Church (Huria Kristen Indonesia or HKI) in Bandung, West Java has been sealed shut by authorities. Churches are required to get 60 non-Christian signatures in order to apply for a building/use permit. Originally the church had 77 signatures, but influential Muslims then went into the community and convinced residents to withdraw their approval.

Last Month, nine churches in Aceh were forced to close also. They were also told they didn’t have the proper permits. Those churches are currently meeting in the four churches that do have proper building permits. Five Buddhist temples were also closed.

Pray for all of these churches to be able to continue worshipping. Ask that they would be able to obtain the proper permits needed to do so.
