The Miss World competition is going on in Bali right now. Originally, part of it was going to take part in Bali and part in the outskirts of Jakarta. But because of protests in Jakarta against the competition, the organizers decided to keep the pageant in Bali the entire time. The decision to move the Miss World pageant is seen as the latest sign of hard-line Islamic groups’ growth in Indonesia. Protesters have called the pageant “pornography” and “smut.” Since then, the Australian, US, and UK embassies have issued warnings that these groups might attack in Bali during the pageant.
Pray for God to work in the hearts of those involved in the hard-line groups. Pray for the protection of those involved in the pageant.
