International Christian Concern has reported that late last week, local government in South Sulawesi told the members of South Sulawesi Christian Church to stop all worship services. They then began demolishing the church on Wednesday. When the church was built in 1989, a permit was not required because “it was made of wood.” The law changed in 2006. Problems began for the church in 2011 when the church had to apply for a permit so they could repair their leaky roof. Local authorities said they had to get a petition signed by 60 Muslims in the community giving the church permission to repair the roof. The residents would only give a verbal permit, because they didn’t want to face the consequences of signing a church’s petition.
Pray for the persecution to make this church stronger. Ask that the Father would give the leaders wisdom as to what the next step is for their church.
