Shia Muslims In Indonesia Are Still Displaced

shia-sampangTwo hundred Shia Muslims have yet to return home. Although the Indonesian president visited the area last month, there have been no follow-up efforts to help the Shi’ites return to their village. They are willing to make peace with the Sunnis in their home, but do not want to be forced to become Sunni. Thirty-four displaced Shia Muslims did return, but only after agreeing to sign a pledge to become Sunni. A peace agreement was signed in September between the two parties, but Abdullah A’la, a reconciliation team leader, says the agreement will fail unless they learn to live side by side in a mutually respectful manner.

Pray for ongoing ministry happening with these refugees, that as a result of their displacement they will meet Jesus.
