Last August, the Sampang Shi’ite community were displaced from their homes after their village was attacked. They were then forced to move into the town sports hall. The government has now provided small apartments for the refugees 100 kilometers from their homes. While the apartments are better than the sports hall since each family has their own place with a kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, the water isn’t working correctly in several apartments, and none of them have electricity. Although the Sunni imam in the refugee complex is welcoming the refugees, they miss their homes in the village.
Pray that these Shi’ites will find their true home and identity in Jesus Christ. Ask that Christians would have opportunities to reach out to them and help provide for their needs as a result of their displacement.
